I am looking at a 2013 Pete 386 with the MX455 and 10 speed 575k miles from the local Peterbilt dealer. The fleet I work for has the same trucks running the ISX and they are less than stellar performers.

I have limited knowledge of the MX engine and would like some solid feedback.
    Thanks.

I work for used truck dealer, the 455 MX has not been great, Im told the bigger 500 is much more reliable. We will not buy the 455.

My info is second hand, so take it with a grain of salt. I've been told that the MX motor has a lot of the same issues that the Maxxforce has (goes through turbos, egr coolers, dpf issues). How accurate any of that is, idk. Though I have been told by both Petro and TA shops that the MX is the most expensive engine to do a PM on because of all the filters being proprietary to Paccar

DEF systems '12-'14 are a huge issue on Paccar MX's. My company returned 8x 12's right when the warranty was up because they were sick and tired of sending them to the dealer for maintenance (fortunately they leased those).

If you want a MX (they are a good motor, especially for running the flat interstates in the US) then go for something more recent, so the bugs have all been worked out.

One of the brokers I haul for has several of the MX, so I have been around them. The only issues they have had have been all DEF sensors issues. Couple of them are at 400,000 miles. The sensors issues for the dpf all seem to have started right after the warranty ended.
Want I found odd is, why the dpf system has a shorter warranty then the engine itself !

Buy a Pre Emission Truck and you will never have to buy a DPF Sensor or a EGR Cooler, or a EGR Valve or a...........the List goes on and on.
