I bought a 2015 lonestar wiyh cummins x15. The motor is disassembled. And possibly missing parts. Bought at auction repo. In the process of an in-frame i figure.
Im thinking factory crate engine. For warranty peace of mind. Would love to have n14+ simple stupid reliable engine. Looking for advice and qoutes on cost of going original vs n14 reconfiguration. Or 12.7 Detroit if possible.
Truck is located in ne Maryland. Please help with recommending someone in area that can help

I heard more than once already that you can't buy good injectors anymore for n14 ...talked to the guy week ago and he is replacing them atleast once a year , sometimes two ...they are cheap though

Well that block will need to come out for sure. You aren't inframing that reliably.

If the crank looks like the top of the block, it might be NFG. The crank journals likely can be ground undersized but that all depends on how deep the rust pits are.

I don't know if Cummins would even give you a core on that engine at this point.

You would need a custom harness that allows the old engine to talk to the newer truck. I can't remember the name of the company but they did the harnesses for Fitzgerald Glider kits l believe. They won't make you one for a pre emissions engine unless it is a Glider Kit from the factory.

Engine is not an X15. It is an ISX 2350.

Engine looks pooched. Lots of other parts are missing.

Considering a factory swing in engine is around 40-50k, is the rest of the truck even worth putting money into?
