I have a sf 103 freq counter and it could use a better ant than factory..I have seen a few mentions of it so i figured i should look into it.. Who makes a quality reasonablely priced one with a bnc connector.. I seen a good # of chinese named ones and one called rubber duck but not seen anyone.mention if and who makes a decient one..

The 1st and last would work ut they are cheaply priced, quality or crap? Being teliscopic an all doesnt that change the recieve like a normal cb ant type deal(swr, resonance ect) I just want something thats more geared to cb band
You don’t want receiving antenna, you will pick up more crap because the input circuit doesn’t have a means to attenuate the signal input by using tight signal tuning. I use the middle antenna because a counter is used up close to the radio unless I use a ring pickup on the so239.
Yeah the one that comes with it has to basically be on top of the antenna..I have seen a cpl vids where user was like 10ft away and still getting their radios signal.. As of now i basically have to have my counter/signal strength meter sittin next to my ant to read anything...Thats why im looking for a better ant.. Wish i could find the vid again...Surfed last night till my eyes were buggered up and i only got 3 hrs in the bunk instead of 7..
Here, start at this page, http://s53mv.s5tech.net/counter/probes.html this explains the basics for the probe. The rest is pretty good too. S53MV Counter History
You know I am thinking the counter’s front end isn’t as sensitive as it should be. you can get a long quality antenna from military surplus or make a simple wire antenna with a BNC connector.
Im sure there is adjustment that can likely be done internally but i dont have the tools or know how to make such adjustment.. For $70 its a cool tool but its $70 of so so quality too.. Jjst another learni g tool to help me on this trip of understanding all this radio stuff.
