I've heard them called "boosters". Also "tags".

It's just a tag axle. You are generally looking at the west coast mixers set up like that. Here in Arkansas our Mixers have a tag just forward of the drive tandems. Flip the air and down they go. Always pick em up when turning or on the job. It helps a little bit.

Slang is used a little bit. If you heard get under the boot, that means back your mixer up the plant concrete output shaft boot a rubber device that will go into your rear loading chute into the drum.

Some call that one a stinger, because it appears to move like a bee using its stinger.

There's a place along us 30 in Indiana that has about the largest collection and selection I've seen.

The tractor trailer ones are especially different.

I’ve heard then called bridge axles. I guess because they extend your bridge.

I've heard swing arm and stinger.

Around here they only get used if there's that much weight. Beyond the standard drops. A lot of times they won't be down.

Around here, those were added first to increase load carrying legally, most could haul 7 yds legally, but the mixer would hold 8 yrds, and enforcement was looking for writable things to go after.

I wish they would enforce them a little better around our area, not for weight but just general "how big of a piece of #### are you driving today."

Pusher axle is in front of the drives, tag axle is behind. Some people call them drop axles, others call them lift axles. Whatever.

Sometimes they are called Loadmaster axles.
