Hello, I have been viewing this forum for around 2 years now on/off, or more.. I'm 21 turning 22 in November, and I currently don't have my CDL Class A, however I would like to get it, and attend a trucking school but I work fulltime now everyday including Saturday(off tues, sun), well anywho, I recently applied to Werner, and I was turned away, and told they couldn't even consider my application because I have a speeding ticket that is less than 3 years old thats over 15 mph.. I only have 2 total tickets, no felonies/convictions/arrests nothing like that.. I have only been stopped twice by a sheriff/police for my 2 tickets thats it. Both my tickets are in my personal vehicle.. Ticket #1:03/21/2007 - Red Light.. Ticket #2:07/09/2008 - Speeding 51mph in a 35mph.. I'm not sure if I am posting looking for places to apply and get training, or posting to simply let others know what I was told.. The recruiter at Werner told me they aren't even considering anything with a ticket of 15+mph in the last 3 years.. Dream Driven
Holy cow, you got a recruiter to tell you the truth. Most of the Super CO's wont hire with a ticket for 15+ in the past 3 yrs, because of insurance. Werner also is a training co, they do not have a school of thier own, though will pay for it if the school meets thier standards, (180+ hours). You are not dead in the water yet, let the tickets clear you record, and you will be much better off.
Over 15 over is considered to be extreme. It is a reckless driving ticket. That is the main reason they will not look. Let it clear off and age a few years and then try again. Trucking is not going anywhere yet.
And then go to a tech college driving school for less than $1000! These companies charge you 3-4- $5000 for a 3-8 week course and then if you do it through a company you then play the indentured servant till you crawl out from under their thumb! Check with the schools out there and when those 15+ tickets get to be 2.5 years old enroll in a GOOD tech school! Oh, it doesn't matter if you got those tickets on a tricycle! They all count against you! Even the ones you might get while driving a truck! It goes against your drivers license and also affects you personal insurance on you car! Now KEEP YOUR FOOT OUT OF THE RADIATOR! Good Luck, Rollover
Well, those tickets are not going to help. You are still young enough to sit it out for awhile. Right now. Even mom and pop operation wont touch you.
