So as you all can see by my posting numbers, Im a newbie to the site and business. My question is I had originally wanted to get into just the expediting business. But for someone starting out, what would be a better starting point, expediting or trucking? I was on a expediting forum and seams like id be working just to be working and really not gaining anything from it, specially being I don't even own my own commerical vehicle. If I went into trucking I planned on doing a company driver route, and if I could find that with a expiditor doing a company driver route as well. Any feedback would be helpfull for this rookie. Thanks in advanced.

From what I have read, expediting you must be an owner operater, part of a team and be on notice 24 hours a day. You can have long periods of nothing and then always moving. It sounds like a feast or famine type of deal. You are in the money one day and starving the next.

I'd suggest calling the expiditing companies directly, such as Express-1, FedEx Custom Critical, and the others and ask if they know of any O/O's looking for more drivers. Many of these folks own multiple trucks and need people to drive those.

Good luck. Please keep us posted.

Ya thats what im kind of gathering, seams very hit and miss. But with me having to go to school for CDL thats always a good thing that way it keeps me open with options, and it sounds like trucking is the better way to go. The fun part will be just to get hired lol
