GREETings from NW Montana, I'v had alls i can stands, I can't stands no more!! Time to go truckin'. My wife an i are about to toss these managment positions and go to SAGE driving school in Missoula MT. Our main goal is team driving, and with the kid about to head to college we have very little need for "getting home" that often. From what im reading here on this fantasic forums site, <very useful tool indeed> that will be just fine with most carriers. Our plan of attack is for me to go thru schoolin' while the wife keeps working for "the man" with the idea of a "ride along" option once im OTR. Then send her thru the schoolin' to reach our goal of team drivin'. Finacialy we will probebly have to go with Watkins paying for my tuition and do the whole "contract" thing for repayment. What im hoping for is ANyone who has gone the route of schooling in Missoula, their experiances, warnings, offerings of advise or just general ramblings on the matter. Any and all advise is welcome. Thanks folks, keep up the communication. No one knows better than those who've lived it. D.
Sounds like a plan. Even though the kids are going off to college, they will still need to be able to track you down around the country when they need more cash! I have heard Sage is one of the best training schools around. This is what I have heard about the one in Indy. They have very good one on one training. I think they maybe a little more expensive, but worth it. I also wanted to let you know that I got my money $2800.00 for training through Sallie Mae. They have a program for those wanting to get trained for new positions. I repay $50.00 per month just like a student loan. I did this so I wouldn't be beholding to any company for covering my training costs. Good Luck Take care Toby
Toby can you give information on how to get money through Sallie Mae, I looked over their site and counldn't find anyhting for Truck Driving just Mechanics. I would much rather go that route myslef then be owned by a company for 8 months to 2 years or more.
