Hi! I'm going to start assests based trucking business in the USA. While I have a lot of expirience in Europe, but I don't have some in America. I would like to aim on LTL transportation using load boards to get free cargoes to transport. I imagine the regular steps would look like - to find some LTLs on truckstop.com; - to define array of LTLs; - then to start manually mixing elements of the array (LTLs) to get the best $ per mile route. With all the elements or some. Could you please tell me are there software (TMS etc.) or web/mobile apps to automate third step for me? What tool do you use to get most from your LTL transportation? I'd appreciate a lot shares of your way to collect LTLs to full your trucks. Thank you in advance!
You might consider hiring someone on one of the programmer contracting sites to write a scrape app for the load boards, then find a way to populate a database with that data so you can pull queries to get an idea of density and direction. But a lot of the stuff on load boards is reportedly BS, posted to get drivers to call brokers who then bait and switch to try to move underpaying loads that aren't proximal to the advertised location. Meanwhile some lucrative loads never hit boards at all, get assigned directly to known drivers/companies with good reps and relationships.
Go work for a company first. Get a taste of what LTL really is, before you go and mess things up for yourself.
Hey... Saw your post late but I think www.SmartHop.co would be a great solution for what you are looking for. Let me know if you have time for a quick chat and will talk about it. Best,
