Hey guys got another newbie question,

On your days off where do you park? I am unable to park at my house or any family's house so I'm looking for some ideas so I can either call or possibly go ask in person.

Some more details would be nice.

How close are your company terminals or drop yards to your house?
Do you have a car to use, or are you to be bobtail or with a trailer?
Is there a truck stop near by?
    Etc.

I spent a whole day looking for parking in an area of Michigan that I am living in that 35 years ago when I grew up here I use to farm.

Now it's all upscale housing , short of a industrial park 15 miles away there was nothing.

Pretty sad. The Yuppies have taken over.

I haven't started yet but I believe they do not have a terminal anywhere close to central Oklahoma and I think the closest one is hundreds of miles away.

I will have a trailer on my days off as far as I understand

Yes there is two large truck stops about 30 min from house. My concern with them is that they are always packed and parking may be hard to come by. My goal with this post was to see if anybody could give me some businesses that are trucker friendly or maybe some places in town that I wouldn't think to check on unless told to by more experienced drivers.

You can always check with RV storage places , Uhaul rental places sometimes have large lots. and construction companies , paving companies too.

I park at a small mom & pop trucking company. They also do repairs and rent out parking spaces on the side. Check for something like that. Sometimes even truck or trailer dealerships will rent parking spaces. You just need to do some asking around and be prepared to pay a fee. If your company won’t reimburse you then write it off on your taxes.

Try to avoid leaving it unattended at a truckstop. Too much could go wrong while you are away from it. Plus i think it’s just kinda rude to the people who have been driving all day and looking for a place to park.

Check any small businesses that have a suitable lot, if you’re just staying for a weekend they may let you that’s what I have done.
