Hubby will be graduating from FVTC in December, and was impressed with Roadready's presentation at school. He is set with another good company in the area, but we couldn't help but notice that RoadReady is offering students 7 cents more per mile, and throwing in free cell phone nights/weekends. Saw they had a few more violations for running over their hours vs the company he is set to go to, but nothing showing up for red flags when I search on them. Anyone have any experience with them that can shed some light on if we should consider applying? Thanks all for any advice.
There is a guy from my hometown that just started there a month ago and when I saw him this weekend he said he was very happy there.
Just a follow up in case others are looking: Hubby did go with them, after a false start at another large local carrier in Central WI that was a nightmare. The difference at RoadReady is wonderful - they treat their drivers nice, give him lots of miles, and he had a wonderful fun trainer. They also make sure to work around his family - got him home for his daughter's skating show, got him dropped off during training for a funeral, which has also been great. If you are looking, I would recommend checking them out.
Thanks for the info. I didn't know they took students. I'm looking at the 3 tech colleges in WI if I take the plunge. I'm looking at the smaller less known companies myself. What is their hometime policy like? Is he on regional or OTR? I think they run quite a bit of WI/MN to Texas from the stickers on the back of their trailers.
He did FVTC and they were top notch - great school and instructors who work with you. RoadReady's run area is a triangle from WI to TX to FL if you draw it on a map. He has been going to MO a lot - best of all no East or West coast. We decided to do 7/7, and they are getting him for a newbie around 2600 - 3000 miles a week. They also have 14/7, or if you really want miles there is out 8/home 1.5 - 2 or other amounts off depending on how long out. If you are a student grad wanting to sign on they do a drive around town for 15 min eval, then its 30 - 45 days out with a trainer with trainer pay before on your own. His trainer was a blast and it was great to hear him calling home laughing and enjoying his time out. They also offer a $1000 sign on bonus, split at 6 months and 1 year anniversary paid. Good luck to you!
