Those plugs are not a good connection. There is a voltage drop at the connection. Thus more current. More heat. Burns up the plug.
I would suggest trying to replace the plug your plugging into. Or hard wire it would be best.
I have a 450 watt inverter. Can't put much of any load on it because of this connection. Need to hard wire it.

I changed to this type of plug and never had any more problems with it.

"2 way connector loop" is what I found it under.
Google " 12v connector plug" and several kinds will show up.

I have that cooler. Make sure your 12 volt outlet is free of corrosion and the plug is making good contact. I plug mine in and twist the plug in the socket back and forth so the metal contacts of the plug can clean off any oxidation inside the socket. One plug I had was slightly smaller so i took a strip of notebook paper about the size of a gum wrapper and used it like a shim so the plug fit more tightly in the socket.

If the plug is getting hot it's going to fail eventually. That means the fuse will blow and the plug will deform or melt. My last one deformed where the center contact screws in and it was hard to unscrew to replace the fuse.

You can get replacement power cords from Amazon. This cord is for the 40 qt cooler sold at Loves. $11. Coleman Thermoelectric Cooler Replacement 8 ft. Power Cord w/Fuse https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B8QYGQD

They are easy to replace. Unscrew 4 screws holding on the outside fan cover, unplug old cord, plug in new cord, put cover and screws back in place.

My Igloo cooler seems to last just over 1 year. I buy the 2 year warranty for $15 and makecsure to register it online 72 hours after purchase. If/when it fails you notify the online company and they send you a gift card to buy a new cooler.

    Numb Thanks this.

There is a fuse inside of the plug also. So if it just stops working, change that fuse first before a new plug.

I realize now that my cooler, and the link to replacement power cords, is for the Coleman 40 qt cooler.

I used an Igloo 40 qt for over 5 years. I replaced the fan motor once andreplaced powers cords maybe a dozen times. Igloo was more reliable than Coleman. But both do just an adequate job.
