2017 KW t680 with a Cummins 235, 430k miles. The turbo started making an odd noise, especially when it gets between 20-30psi. I can't figure out, anyone heard this before? It goes away and comes back throughout the day and seems to be worse early in the day.
I would have the unit rebuilt if that is the sound I am hearing, it sounds like either damaged impellers or the center second bearings going bad. the real problem is I can’t hear it live which is what I would have to do to say for sure but then I’ve already experienced twice runaway engine syndrome on a truck I drove and there seems to be a sound that a turbo makes when it is about to go.
Thanks, unfortunately all the shops around me here in East TN have been pretty bad. Do you take these to a dealer for rebuild?
