Anyone with a truck in San Diego willing to give class A driving instruction?

Hello truckers out there! I am a recent trucking school grad and I got my class B license but failed the driving portion for my class A. I went to United in San Diego, where I currently live. The driving time in the tractor trailer portion of my training was probably a total one hour before I tested at the commercial DMV. I need a refresher course from an experienced trucker willing to let me drive their rig. I can drive but I need more behind the wheel time than I received in school. Thanks.

BUT, what comes to my mind is... if you just went thru a trucking school, it sure must have been a crappy one. 1 hour tractor trailer road time??
They should have given you at least 12 to 15 hrs minimum of road driving. My school gave me roughly 15 hrs road, out of a total of a 240 hr course.
Hope you didn't spend many $$$ at that "trucking school".

 

That was my thought exactly, I'm not sure if you are going to find anyone that will let you drive their truck for road training, what I would suggest is that you go to a company that will take you with your permit and then you can get the time in the seat with a trainer? I'm not going to let you run around with my truck.

 

That sounds like a fly by night outfit. You are paying them to train you and obtain that CDL. If a student fails they are suppose to give you extra attention until you exhausted all 3 test attempts.

Now that you surrendered your Class A permit for a Class B CDL I'd say you have to go back and get your Class A permit again unless you already done it.

 

Years ago I used a guy named Bob out in Ontario area. He's got a small truck with a short flatbed that is legal for A test. His class is like 4 days were he goes over everything you need too know to get your license. You can drive/practice and take the test as many times as you need to pass. No idea if he's still around. Good luck...

Try prime I think if u have a permit u can get on there try cr England also.

 

That would be in California. He's a good dude who does know how to teach...

 

I went to United years ago. I can't recall but I'm sure I received more than one hour behind the wheel. With instructor turn around, I'm sure you had different ones than I did. My road test portion was done at their Riverside yard. We had a student having a hard time with alley docking. They spent extra time with him until they felt he was ready. While on the CA DMV road test, he rubbed the curb while turning and was failed. He waited the required waiting period, re tested and passed. To this day, he's a great friend of mine, and has safely driven for over 9 years.

Wouldn't United allow you to return to test again with the DMV as my friend was allowed?
