My apu is starting to be a pain in the #####. As soon as I turn it on and it start to blow cold it goes off and I get an error code saying engine running failure. And when I use the manual start button it just blows warm air.

I had that happen to me a few months ago and it was because of the hose that leads out to the main vent under the floor had worn a hole in itself by rubbing against other things in the bunk.. is it a peterbilt?

Take it to a shop that works on that brand APU. These things are simple but made complex so only those who are supposed to service them are servicing them.

Krazzyboi... you're a Prime driver, posting these questions in the Prime forum will get you more specific answers than you'll get in the generic new guys forum.

First, send a macro 21 to to road assist describing the problem. They'll get back to you, but only respond to them using macro 21... they don't see anything when you respond with the generic REPLY function. That only goes to dispatch.

If they can't get it working with you on the road, you need to let your FM know about it, and get routed to the nearest company shop. While you're enroute it should be OK to idle the truck for a/c, but that's only short term.

If it's a rig master, does it sound "weak" (sputter, RPMs fluctuate/drop, or something) when the AC kicks in? And then after a few seconds of air the APU cuts off and you get that error?

That's what mine does. Check the air filter on the APU.

I haven't yet figured out what causes the air filters to get so nasty so quick, as I haven't been able to set an appointment to have the thing looked at. It took all of 6 weeks on a brand new filter for it to start acting up again.

So hypothetically, let's say I see a Prime truck in the right lane doing its usual 30-50 m.p.h. under the posted speed limit, there is road construction ahead in the left lane and I have a delivery I have to make sometime this decade (I assume Prime deliveries don't have such rigid time constraints)... What macro do I have to punch in to direct said Prime truck to the nearest bicycle path where its not obstructing traffic?
