Are good miles with some decent hometime possible together?

Looked into the Schneider "Home Run" program and things looked great, 2 weeks on regionally and then home for a week straight.

Then I talked to a recruiter.... .34/mile with 4 safe years experience. MAYBE 2500 miles/week on avg. is what I was told. And training is not an option on this program which sucks but I can understand it. I may go ahead and take this deal with Schneider if I can't find anything that makes me a little more money without having to completely sacrifice my home life.

I know it's asking for a lot, but are there any other companies that offer a similar program? Would love more than the standard one day home for every week on the road but there is just zero local work available right now.

They've got a regional program out here as well, the recruiter said it would be out for 14 days and home for a 34 though. And if that's what the recruiter was trying to sell me on then I can't imagine it would be any better than that and it could quite possibly get a bit worse than that.

I know that's just the way it is in the industry but being 25 and having just bought my first house I would just love to be home a little more than that.

Plus if I'm out running the truck I want to be RUNNING the truck. Back when I started with Swift when I was first starting out I could get 3500+ miles most weeks. The miles had dwindled down to around 2500ish toward the end though there too, may just be an economy thing.

If you just bought your first house, i think you should be more worried about an income to pay for it than having time off to enjoy it, that comes later in life when your older. If you are financially set at 25, then good for you, you are doing great. I understand wanting to be home and enjoy the fruits of your labor and i think at this point in time with trucking the way it is it might be hard to find that happy medium. When pumpkin said 2 weeks out then 1 week at home and at 2,500 miles a week that turns out to be 7,500 miles a month, that does not seem to be alot at .34 a mile. I don't know were you live in cali. but you could look up Marten Transport out of Mondovi Wi. they have a terminal in Ontario Ca. i think that they have a western fleet. I'd say search this web site and find out if you can find more carriers that have western fleets out here. Good luck

I'm doing well enough now to pay the bills and my finances are in order, I just want to be doing a little better than "paying the bills" is all. The truck and end dump I own arent keeping me as busy as I'd like but the avg Otr job is just more than I would like to take on right now, been there done that. I know I'm asking for a lot but this Schneider thing got my hopes up a bit. Thanks for the suggestions tho people, I'll check into them now.
