When I was younger, I did not mind staying out. I was getting great miles and great money. Now that I m older, 3 weeks is about the most I can stand being on the road

Typically these days or seems like three weeks is the average. When I first started long haul was 7/10 out.
Its increased over the years because drivers won't stand up for themselves and say he'll no I'm not staying out 3wks in addition to company greed.

I used to stay out for months at a time, following freight. Now even 5 weeks is too much. It just isn't worth it anymore

Three weeks is about it for me. Seven is the longest I've gone, and only because I needed the accumulated days off for a family reunion. But I'm also counting the days til I'm done for good. Not as profitable, not as fun.

I appreciate your comment, but the question CLEARLY states and requests comments relating to OTR drivers. I'm not interested to hear from local Drivers.

I stayed out 20 straight days once. Told the company the next time I was out more than 10 they could send someone to pick up their truck. I work to live, not live to work. Tons of companies around here can get me home weekly...

    Yeah, I don't think so.
I LOVE being OTR. The $$ is very good. I run 48 states. You stay and do your local gig, I'll be out driving in the middle of nowhere all by onesie.
Think of OTR as a race track. As long as you're out on the track you're making money. Going home is like going into pit row. You lose money going home, and coming out of the house. I stay out 4 weeks, but can be bribed to stay out longer with a good load.

    Crusader66 Thanks this.
