Should I just go with any company that will hire me? I have put in several apps (Swift, Watkins, Roehl, Millis) yesterday and no response yet. I mean come on, it's been 13 hours already...lol What is the typical response time? How important is a terminal near my house/why? Any other training programs from other companies I should consider? I REALLY appreciate your feedback, especially if it is specific. Thanks.
We've discussed the terminal near your house, forget that............ Just have bus fare in your pocket 24/7, in case it's needed !!!!! And spend a few days reading on this forum, all of your questions have already been answered, 87,000,000,0000,000 TIMES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck !!!!!!!!
I got e-mails back from Werner, USA Truck and US Xpress recruiters a day after I had applied online. I think they were canned responses, they gave a toll free # with a real person's name. Then that person called me a couple of days after I left a voice message. I still get postcards and occasional calls from Werner and USA truck. I didn't want to go to US Xpress because I heard they had all automatics and I wanted to become more proficient at shifting. Still, I must have had 8 or 10 other companies that I applied online with and after acknowledging my application(again in an automated e-mail response)I never heard from any of them. I just signed with a smaller company where I knew someone, I did an application by mail, waited a bit. They didn't act on it until I went back in person and got the ball rolling.
jtrnr1951... I have spent countless hours reading these posts... I still cannot figure out why having a terminal near your house matters if the company lets you take the truck home. I guess it only matters, if they don't and you park at the terminal, right?
The terminal near your house is because they figure they can get you home easier, the truck is available if they need it, it is secure on their lot, it is not being driven around your home town on Saturday night cruising the ladies etc. and they can do repairs/maintainence if needed at their facility. Plus some mechanics need a bed to stretch out on for their break !
i went with swift and from day one i called the recruiter never have they called me lol. maybe its just me but i dont sitting around waiting. if you want something go and get it dont wait for them to give it to you. also in my own experience once you get a recruiter trying to get ahold of said person might take a few hrs. i can't recall how many times i would hit redial after getting voicemail.
So I live in middle TN and no terminals near me. What is the next criteria for selecting a company paid program for CDL? Did I miss one? Is there a company in TN that accepts no experienced or no CDL
