After reading posts about people being sent home after the second background check I am getting paranoid. I have had info. show up on my credit report that wasn't suppose to be there and want to make sure that doesn't happen with my driving and background reports. What is the best, most complete, way to check them myself?
In a background check, if a civil Protective Order (restraining order) shows up as dismissed, is that a red flag for haz mat trucking companies? Situation is, there is a protective order that was filed and dismissed 16 hours later, the next day. It was never served, never made it to law enforcement, just dismissed by the Plaintiff. Never became temporary or permanent, just dismissed. But it will show up on a civil background check, I suppose. Is that going to stop a company from hiring you, and if you are haz mat certified?
they don't care about your credit, just your driving and criminal. also they will actually verify your references you put down as well as your past employers. don't put your buddy down and have him play your previous boss they will find out
Not 100% true, there are maybe a few companies out there that may do credit checks, now I haven't heard of any trucking company doing it yet but in the last few years I seen job postings stated they do credit checks.
I think a reasonable credit history is becoming the norm, sad thing is that so many people have a poor credit rating due to losing jobs, defaulting on home loans, cell phone contracts, etc. in this bad economy (some people are just not responsible as well). Insurance companies look at people with a poor credit history, as a bigger risk...... I know that does not sound right but very true.
california passed a law where they can't check your credit for hiring purposes unless the job is handling money/ or people's social security with the exemption of law enforcement. a lot of states have similar statues. besides aren't truck drivers notorious for having horrible credit (hence the leasing rip-offs)
