I hope someone can explain what this woman is talking about, starting at the 2:40 point.

Why would it matter, either to Werner or anybody else, whether she incorporated when she became an O/O? Sounds like either a legal technicality, government requirement, or an excuse to make a new O/O work longer for less pay.

I started to hear her at that 2:40 mark and had to turn it off. It hurt too much....

She's talking about getting her driving history as a carrier with authority included in her DAC report. Apparently she had issues with some carriers using that exclusively to qualify new owner-ops, instead of accepting logbooks, tax returns, and the like as an alternative. That wasn't expressed very clearly, but how many truck drivers do you meet that are expert public speakers?

I can't listen to that either. If she already had experience, why is she at Werner? If they won't take documented proof such as log books, 1099, tax returns, etc, then they aren't worth the effort. Also, incorporating as an LLC is probably the best way to go, and always a good idea when starting up as an O/O or even a L/O. Doing that later means changing paperwork over that's already been done.

It's like she's saying the best thing that happened to her was going to werner.

She failed to manage her insurance and it cost her BIG TIME. She's lucky to get a tractor..

I thought she said that a lady driver already working with Werner wanted to team with her. I guess she didn't already have enough business of her own to suggest that the friend quit Werner and team with her instead.

I got that impression too. Like I said, public speaking wasn't her strong suit. If Werner got her started then I guess that's good for her.

Werner didn't get her started. She was already an active O/O with authority before she even thought about Werner. It's unclear why she went with Werner, except that she had a friend already working for them who wanted to team up with her. She learned her mistakes AFTER the fact. That's what I'm trying to avoid.

In most of the youtube videos I've watched with truckers, they like to repeat themselves a lot. i.e. saying the same thing 3x times, over the course of 3 minutes.

I don't know what it is about the road, isolation perhaps, that makes them think we didn't catch it the first time. Being efficiency minded when it comes to loads isn't transferring to their videos. I guess they're just bored, need to talk, and a video from the cab is their way of not feeling as lonely. They're in no hurry to get it done. Personally, I'd rather sit in a truck stop and talk crap with the waitress than look into a camera lens for 100 strangers to view later. Are you required to sit in the cab in case your dispatcher needs you? Can't they call you on your cell phone?

Don't even get me started talking about spelling and run on sentences with no punctuation. I guess I was lucky. I knew how to spell and compose sentences by the 5th grade.

Reminds me of my favorite TTR member signature. I don't recall who the member was but the signature was taylor made, like finger nails on a chalk board, for TTR grammar nazis. I forget the whole thing but part of it said "they're, their, there now!" lol

It is hard to understand if you start listening at 2:40.

She is with Warner (at about 2:27 she says she has been with them 7 months). She said she her girlfriend talked her into signing on with them. Her issue is that she had been an O/O for sometime prior and could not prove experience to Warner’s satisfaction. It is clearer if you start at about the 2 minute mark.

RF got the OP’s question answered though; she was saying that Warner would not accept her authority, 1099, or logbook as proof of driving because she was a sole proprietor so they had her start like a new driver.

If you incorporate you can have your company verify your driving history by submitting a DAC report on yourself. It seems a bit silly as you could be the sole owner of the company but that is how some company’s requirements are.

I remember reading another thread on this from someone who was an O/O and then when back to being a company driver but I cannot find it now.
