So I just got my CDL a week ago and I've filled out a bunch of apps online. Haven't heard back from any yet, granted its been less than a week, should I be calling them even though I've already filled out online apps for them? I did pickup some apps at a couple places that were local and turned them in. I do have a good driving record and no criminal. Only thing is I have poor work history...4 different jobs in 2 years. Any advice?
Put you location on your profile so we know the hiring area you live in. Yes, after submitting an application, follow with a phone call in a couple days.
Next you will get prehire notices, they do not mean you have a job. After school and you have a license, do not travel on a prehire notice. Make sure you know what is pending exactly before you take off to go to orientation. such as drug test, physicals, know exactly what they can knock you out of orientation for. These Mega Carriers are not very carrying. If your out its find your own way home. 4 jobs in 2 years is not a deal breaker.
Try these also: Button Transportation Jim Palmer Trucking Gardner Trucking Northern Refrigerated Transportation Pride Transport Ignore "experience required" and apply anyway.
With no exp you need to be applying to the starter companies where there is training.Because you should have heard back from at least 1 company by now to let you know they received your application.Your job history wont be a factor.Unless the local companies have someone to train you they won't hire you.
Recent grad here, in the thick of applying. Finding that many do not respond. Could be that you don't meet the requirements, but you may have to call to find that out. As Chinatown said, follow up after a couple of days with a phone call. At that time you'll probably get a recruiter who will provide information about the job, answer questions and help you over the hurdles. Good luck!
Did u get your cdl through a school, or one of these fly by night train in my truck deals. Some don't recognize the fly by night places. Also this is normally the beginning of the.slow season so maybe you might get a call mid January if freight picks up.
Went through a 4 week program at a private school. Yeah I figured it might have to do with the fact that this is the time that certain types of freight do slow down.
i hope you don't mind a quick hijack fourpsi. I'm starting a 160 hr. cdl school tomorrow. 4 weeks. would like to pull flatbed. i live in central Minnesota. anybody have a company in mind that might give me a look?
