3 months ago today, I decided that after 29 years of smoking a pack of cigarettes per day (my god the money that was wasted lol), I was going to quit and quit for good this time. The first week was pure hell, but it did get easier. This was cold turkey quitting, no gum, no patch, no pill just pure determination. I cannot beleive how much better I feel! Anyway getting to the point of this post , in the past, every single time I would go for my DOT Physical my blood pressure was always right at the max cutoff for the 2 year card. Now keeping in mind that I am a little overweight, my blood pressure today for the physical was 122/79 ! The lowest I can ever remember it being.
You realize you are likely going to live longer so now any extra money you thought you would be enjoying will have to be put into retirement fund. Sort of a double edged sword. Cheers to your health!
Keep it up! Hardest thing in the world to do is quit smoking...Apparently it is comparable to quitting crack or heroin. I wouldn't know though
He rolled his own. Those guys drink moonshine and chase it with cigarette smoke. I've seen my father do that.
Great job man. I had made several attempts when I was younger ( 20s & 30s ) and made it about 2 years. Typically I would start again at the bar ( gave that up now too ), or when I was with my girl after doing the wild thing. So anyway, I'm coming up on 52, and I've been quit for almost 12 years. Stopped on my 40th birthday, pack or a tad more of Marlboro's a day, sometime camel non's. Cold turkey. I don't think the real true cravings went away for about 5 years. You know all the time I smoked, I don't think anyone offered me a smoke, but people mooched plenty of them. Within the first 4 months of stopping I found 3 packs of smokes, 2 were Marlboro reds, 1 even had the lighter. That comes strait from the devil my man, believe it.
I visited father the day he quit smoking on his final day to accept the morphine drip and die peaceably as opposed to the nasty consequences of survival. Emphysima never pretty but very preventable
