What kind of safety factor is there in these ratings? If it is in a two lane road does the posted number assume two trucks going the opposite could be on it at once? I need to go to a location on Monday and I have thoroughly scouted it out in a pickup and there is no possible way to get there without going over this bridge on a two lane road that is posted 20 ton limit. I weigh 32 tons. Legally I know I am not supposed to go across it but if I wait and make sure I am the only vehicle on it I should be ok practically speaking right? I don't want go crashing into the creek but I need to get through here.
Bridges can hold 3 times what they are marked for? Think thats correct...but if that dang thing fails while your on it....its.gonna be a really bad day.......really bad.... I remember a lady got jail time for collapsing a historic bridge somewhere due to ignoring the sigbs
Other trucks must use that bridge to reach the customer. There's one in Arkansas I had to cross often and it was the only way to reach the customer without going a couple hundred miles out of the way. The sign has 20K limit and I was always in the 60K to 70K range. I saw logging trucks cross it and other tractor trailers, so I didn't worry about it.
No customer per say. This is a very rural area and I am headed to a jobsite and the only truck there.
I honestly think youll be fine.....if engineers just built.that bridges to hold exactly what the sign says....there would be bridges down every where... Its definitely built.for twice its weight and your not even that
