Bunk Heater shutting off in the middle of the night

It shuts off after I fall asleep and I wake up to a 15 degree truck. I know it's because the battery is getting too far drained. My question is, is this a common thing? Or can most trucks run them all night?

 

Maybe batterys are weak,maybe battery connections are dirty...But the colder it hets the harder it is on batterys..Most times mine will shut off after about 6 hrs when really cold..I usually crank the heat b4 bed to warm the bunk and close the curtains that seperate bunk and cab,less space to heat..I also unplug my cooler and turn off what doent need to run....
But to answer your question,yes it does happy and for a reason..You may wake up to a cold trk but there is still enuf power in the batterys to start it..

Oh and use more blankets,create a better seal under the bunk and around doors and windows and those crappy vents...I was looking for somethin today under my bunk from outside..I noticed i could see in the cab....Ill be sealing that up with some foam tape..

 

I just went thru this. I had 3 out of 4 batteries were dead. Once my batteries were replaced and I had a annual service done at Thermo King, it’s awesome now.

 

The cold killed my already aged batteries.

 

Cold does it to all normal batterys...Normal use kills batterys over time cause you loadem upand run them down..They dont handle it like deep cycles do..

 

I like to run my vacuum, tv, and microwave at the same time. Sorta a cook-n-clean-n-tv binge. Don’t know why I had battery issues.

 

Either the batteries or they're not resetting before you go to sleep.
Espars are usually set to a 10hr run time.
I always turn mine off and back on before I actually turn off the lights and tv.

 

My Apu and bunk heater run separately so I can run one without the other. On real cold nights I will run the Apu with the air going, this allows the batteries to get a charge while the heater is running.

 

Is it an APU or the dashboard heater while idling?
