Can anyone help me change whatever needs to be changed to lower egt? It’s a 1999 series 60 BK 12.7.

I had a custom calibration done and was happy with it. I had two injectors go weak and changed them.
A month later one of the new ones dumped fuel in my oil so I changed all six, and now I’m really happy with it. Egts are good when ambient is in the 60’s it’s fine. Gets into the low 900’s, but if ambient is just a bit higher, 1000 is no problem. Current tuner seems to have ghosted me.

I can't help with the tuning, but agree you have a boost leak, turbo is weak, or exhaust leaks.

You got too much fuel and not enough air.

That's the problem with tuners. People waste money to get power, but will run a 40 year old CAC, or a cracked exhaust manifold.

I had mediocre injectors. I changed all 6 and found the power I should have had for over a year and now I have egt issues. I complained to the tuner about not noticing a significant difference in output. The engine started to have a lope at idle and cutout test showed 5 and 6 were weak. Changed them and noticed a slight increase in output. A month later 5 dumped 10 gallons of fuel into my oil. Changed all 6 7466’s with new 7466’s, went from 30psi to 40psi, got a significant increase in output and now egts are a problem. Yes I could live with it but I’d rather not.

Have you pressure tested the CAC? What turbo are you running?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I didn't ask if you had leaks, I asked if you pressure tested the CAC. Maybe you did? Maybe you assume it's good because you don't see anything wrong?

Get away from that S400 and put a K31 on there. You'll be amazed at the difference.

But, everybody is gonna tell you the S400 is better..

One more thing, either way you go, you're gonna have way more power than that engine can make with any amount of longevity. Be prepared.

I have pressure tested the cac. I had a k31 on it. It ran out of steam pretty quick. I’m not against putting it back on. I also think it should be cut back to preserve longevity. It’s been on my mind. It’s hard to find someone you can trust in the tuning field because I have no clue what to do or how to do it myself. If someone can help me I’m all for it. A simple injector change has my egts high. That’s the issue I need to correct now, weather it’s a new file altogether or adjustments to the current one. That’s what I need.
