We are a dog rescue trying to save an American Bulldog from a kill shelter in Central Florida..We have an adopter in Toronto, but no way to get him there..The new adoptive family can also meet at the border..Just thought i'd throw it out there for you animal lovers.."Broozer" is about 45-50 pounds and very sweet..Also,does anyone know what it takes to get an animal across the Canadian border?
See if you can set up some sort of relay system. Also, talk to your local breed rescue, they may be able to help. As far as moving dogs across the border, I know you need shots records. I think you also need some form of ownership papers, but I haven't moved animals across the border for years, adn when I did it was just to exhibit at the Niagara Falls dog show. You're first step should definitely be breed rescue, absolutely. If you do get a relay going, pm me and I'll see if I ca cover a leg.
there is a organazation that uses truckers to relay dogs for this purpose . but cant recall who or what the name is called . we were asked to join and had to pass at the time . but as a animal lover would love to have helped on that .
Two groups I can think of that consist of driver volunteers (not just truck drivers), one is "TRUCK-N-PAWS" and the other is "Operation Roger". There are also at least two groups of volunteer pilots. One is Pilots & Paws, the other is Animal Rescue Flights. Google those groups & you should find some info on how to get something coordinated. In my experience, the pilot groups are able to pull off some pretty amazing feats with long-distance transports. I'd help if I were any closer. Good luck getting him a ride!!
