Need some info. I would like to know can you change the planner that's sending loads to your truck? (I don't want to change my dm just the planner.)
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the planner depends on where you are. For example if you are near Memphis, the Memphis planners will be planning you. Only way to change the planner is get a load to a different area or when they change shifts.
Neal you are correct, this is what happens during the day. At night, all bets are off. You are then dealing with a whole new group of people. I have been sitting in New York, and get a pplan at night from PHX
Also there are mulitple planners working a location ... so you could be getting planned by any number of people. What is important is the relationship your DM has with the planners. You may like your DM, but the planners may not like your DM.
Hahahahahahahaha I wish! I would fire the ones out of Memphis and the dummy's in Lancaster who think I don't deserve to get a nice run until I do their dirty work first.
Same thing with the Jonestown planners. I used to give them 1 shorty run, then tell them I wanted off that coast! I never went North of Avenel NJ in the East. I would run all over upstate NY and into Albany. Just didn't do the Megalopolis stuff. New England was a definite NO!
Night shift people are psychos.. lol. I always try n get a pplan in daytime hours when my dm is working, otherwise you'll deal with janitorial planners that just push trucks onto a pplan and not take into concideration yer pta, or hos left.. then spend ½ the night going back n forth w/ them about p/u & del time/dates...
The typical DM works with between 60 and 75 trucks. There is usually one planner for each four DMs. Your DM's reputation can reflect strongly on what kind of loads you get. However, when planning loads, there is an emphasis on your personal record. The rating level you are at will determine what you are offered, in most cases. Sometimes, you just get what you get. But, you cannot "fire" the planner.
You may not be able to fire them but ya can always tell them where to go..... Just don't piss them off or you will find your PTA set out to December 24TH 2033. My fav planners are @ Edwardsville if that is where they are. They have called me a few times and always back up what they say they are going to do. One time my load magically vanished when I got there to pick it up. Drove 150 miles and went through hell getting and empty only to find out load already left. I refused to leave that area until they gave me a load that went in the same area because was planning on stopping in Vegas for 24 hours. Took 12 hours but they came through. Anytime I do them a favor, then I expect them to keep their end as well. Plus that little load they sent me was a nightmare. I just don't like the ones who blow out your PTA because you did not except a load that they think you can run.. They always say are you refusing freight? I say no! cannot do 1100 miles in 22 hours (JIT) with ice and snow going across the Rockies. They then blow out my PTA. Bunch of babies!!!
Yeah the Jonestown guys drive me nuts sometimes with the 3-4 short trips in a day. I really don't care if I have to go into NYC itself, as long as it gets me out of that area I'm happy. Personally I like when I'm near Chicago, always get something decent from them, if its a shorty it has a good backup. Maybe its just me but I never really had a big problem with any of the planners, I just take whatever as long as its doable and it all works out in the end. Never had them ##### if I turned down for HoS.
