Can you update an 2001 ISX (CM570) to an 2015 ISX (CM2250)???

I've read they've had some significant changes, but if I buy an 2002 ISX and its stripped down to the block, can they rebuild it with the better parts of the 2015 ISX? It has a better cam shaft design and fuel injection system from what I've read. Its supposed to more reliable and fuel efficient than the first ISXs that came out.

I'm thinking about of buying a pre-emission ISX for a Glider, but apparently the ISX early on, even pre-emmision had a lot of problems, and apparently not much support, even under warranty. I'm not so concerned about the cost of replacing all those parts, but I want to know if this is technically possible without modifying the block.

    Thanks.

2015 isx is not 2250. It is cm2350. 2250 was had problems with ceramic fuel pump plungers. 2350 that problem solved.
    Im getting arround 8mpg on my 2350 isx15 450hp.

2007 was the best ISX I ever had. Replaced a head and egr valve under warranty, otherwise all I ever did was feed and change it. Phenomenal power(565), I pulled 115,000 all the time and passed tons of 80k guys on mountains. Jake was so good I could come off any hill without touching the brakes.

Can you tell me what this "upgrade kit" that Cummin's is talking about in this PDF?

    http://www.google.ca/url?q=http://w...X13BKE&usg=AFQjCNEg5zHPXJXQSgtujaYZ9t-1Ka7Wsw

    It says that:
" Details: Upgrade pre-02 ISX / QSX to today’s improved technology for better durability. All the parts you need to bring your 1998 – 2001 ISX engine up to the latest technology. New Connecting Rods to give you better piston pin life. This kit contains 6 Monotherm piston kits, 6 liners, 6 new connecting rods, rod and main bearings, and upper gasket set"

Where there significant issues that these updates were intended to fix?
It's obviously no legacy engine (N14/12.7/C13) but it should get better fuel economy than those engines because of HPI (High Pressure Injection) which is supposed to enhance combustion.

    Unless I'm missing something here?

Thats right new isx has high pressure fuel pump and common rail which makes 35000psi. Thats why fuel economy much better. Pistons are more light than n14. But you will have other problems because of emissions, never engines produces more soot.
PreEmission engine much less headache, but fuel economy not so good.

The piston material and manufacturing process has improved since 2001. What they are saying is that pistons are better today than what they were when your engine was originally built. Engines today are using these improved materials and techniques. If you overhaul your engine you are using current technology and therefore improved parts. It doesn't mean you are turning a 2001 ISX into an 2015 CM2350. It just means the same quality of parts are used.

I get that much, but have issues with the early ISX's been resolved with this newer tech? I've read a lot of people saying they chew through Cams consistently. Was that issue ever resolved or was it only solved with the 2010 redesign? Thanks.
