CAT C15 MXS Jake problem

Hello there .
Need some help with my '06 CAT C15 Acert MXS as I really feel I'm ready to set this thing on fire
The problem is that when it's getting cold outside (about 35F or below) the cruise control and Jakes stop working . Will start working again if I stop and idle for 10-15 mins but will only last 5-10 miles and it dies again . If it's about 40F or above works fine with no issues at all .
No check engine lights , no codes , no nothing .
Maybe somebody had the same problem before and can share some knowledge , thanks .

 

I've heard something to do with your driver a in collaboration or something.. I'll call my buddy in a bit and post again.

 

Mine would do the same thing. When the switches get old the metal inside wears out and they quit working right. New dash switches fixed that. It would also be a good idea to check your fuses and switch connections to make sure everything is snug and not rattling around because that can cause similar problems.

 

yours would not work only in cold weather too ?
I've checked the fuses and connectors to the swithes (ON/OFF and position) and they seem to be OK . How do you think , a bad switch or fuse would cause the issue or it might be a bad sensor ?
I also had to mention that I replaced the speed sensor on the tranny , had a friend of mine with exactly the same problem on an ISX and that fixed his problems , however , it did not change anything for me .
I've done some research on a lot of forums and I've seen plenty of different opinions .
However , went to a dealer yesterday and they found out that the throttle pedal is out of calibration and I'll need a new sensor .
I've been having the jake issue since last winter but back then it was not throwing any faults for the pedal .
Can it be that the engine is not reading the correct coolant temp (bad coolant temp sensor) and will not let the jakes kick in ?
The intake air temperature sensor going bad might be an option too ?

Trying to contact my buddy who had that same problem.. I remember he said that after he switched to low pro tires his like collberation was off and it caused the jake and cruise to malfunction. But this issue might not be the same as his..

 

I don’t think it would be the coolant sender, the ecm defaults to 194*F if it isn’t getting a signal. If the sensor on the foot feed is bad cruse would still hold whatever speed you were going. But a faulty clutch position sensor would absolutely cut cruse and jakes, that might be worth checking.

My switches started going out, but then on cold days wouldn’t work all together, my guess is the cold shrank the metal just enough, because if I cranked my defroster and they warmed up they would work most of the time.

As far as your speed sensor, if it’s working on the dash then it’s working and shouldn’t be the issue as long as the needle isn’t jumping all over the place.

Beyond that, you might need to start looking for broken or exposed wire... so fingers crossed it’s an old switch

 

will go to the dealer tooday to get the switch , should I get both of them ? (ON/OFF , position)?
