I have to change rod and main bearngs on a 6nz cat this weekend and have a question about the final torque which is 2 flats, has any body done this with an impact wrench?I have done quite a few of these but always with a second person and a torque multiplier
I have my sockets I am using scribed and then I use a paint marker. I put a dab with the paint marker on the cap and the point of the bolt then go to it, with the impact. I put the main cap on by hand and tap it with a hammer to be sure it is seated square. Then torque it then turn it do every one the same way right side then left. how ever you want just do it the same all the time.
hmm i wish i would have known about using an impact, me and my 69 y/o old man were layin under the truck together sweating in a 35 degree shop tightening my 3406E rods and mains.
