I came here to post this in hopes to catch drivers who are in research of a new job and come across this post as a warning. Everything seems ok and everyone is nice and easy to get along with. Dispatchers are ok and at least one of the girls in the office is nice and helpful with payroll and insurance problems. The other one is only there because its the owners wife. She didn't like one of the other girls and they let go a 10 year veteran who knew more then she could ever dream of knowing. It was shady to say the least. Pay: Income isn't the worst out there but it's not all that. They claim you make more if you are hazmat. Wrong! I would say half are not hazmat drivers but make the same as someone with the same years no matter what their qualifications. I know two new hires one was non haz and got more than the guy with the haz. This is just the start..... Bonuses: You get a yearly bonus and a quarter bonuses. Sounds great right? Wrong! This has to be one of the only companies that take out of your "safety" bonus if you blow a tire and they think its your fault. Thats right! The rest of the things you get dinged for are fair and not worth the type. But if you drive you know youre going to have a blow out sometime that year if not more. Yes it can be prevented in some instances but no one is an engineer at Bridgestone either and can tell what is what. Lots of studies online that they should look at before they point a finger! Also I know of at least 5 drivers right now that have not received their yearly bonus and are at least 5 months overdue now. Yes its a bonus but do what you say youre going to do. Raises: Forget it! They took a pay cut but got that back but have been on a freeze now for a while. They have not been fair about raises to say the least. Some have worked there a long time and get nothing and work because its their job and get nothing for it. Some work and don't want to but get a raise if they threaten to quit....This isn't drivers only its companywide. So if you get hired you can plan on making the same for a while. They are having trouble with turnover now and getting people hired. I guess they don't understand you get what you pay for. Tractors: They are par for the course but are running 4 and 5 year tractors that have a lot of miles now and wearing out quick. (Freightliner Columbia) Supposedly they have new ones on the way but meanwhile still no raises. Insurance: Its ok and it is what it is. Isn't great but there is a lot worse. Safety: Check their score is all I can say! You can get the miles but you better be ready to run a few different log books. Average miles I run are about 2700-3000 a week. Doesnt sound bad but its Monday thru Friday not a full 7 days. If you get a DOT write up then its taken out of your "bonus" that you dont see anyway. They want you to run but don't want to share the blame when you get a write up. I know its drivers fault for log book violations but you cant run someone the way they do and not expect repercussions from it. Basically if this company could be fair it wouldn't be too bad. But dont ruin your MVR for a company who doesn't pay well or delay pays your bonus. They are a little shady to say the least.
trip planning and communication. If you can't do it, refuse it. If they starve you, use your down time to find another job. Companies abuse drivers because you guys let them. Stand for whats right and you wont be "forced" to do what is wrong. Things are getting so bad out there that it's normal to run illegal, fight for a better wage so you can get paid what you're worth and do it legally. Smarter is generally better than harder.
Smarter is always better then harder!!! And your right! WE should stand for what's right.....Ofcourse it's hardier for some then others. I don't have much trouble but its not worth it either! All I can say is that I'm looking....... We put though!
