Make sure you complete all three (General Knowledge, Combination, and Air Brake) tests
before arriving at a Swift Academy. I'm sure a lot of people know this, but some do not.

I had all three completed before arriving here in Lewiston, but some in my class are running into issues.
For Washington it was three separate tests. Other states (Oregon and Idaho) said that the tests are different a
far as how they are arranged.
I took the GK one day and then the Combo and Air Brakes another day, three separate grades.

    pattyj Thanks this.

Great advice Dave. That's one less thing to stress about when going to school is getting your cdl permit. You can pick up a cdl manual at your local dmv that you study from to pass the test.I would'nt reccomend trying to pass by taking online test. There's alot you have to know.

I am assuming its different for different locations? I attended Swift Academy in Phoenix Arizona and I did not have to get my permit first, class started on monday and tuesday everyone went to the DMV in shuttles and took the permit test, those who failed went the following 2 days. Now before orientation I had to come back to my home state and transfer the license first before Swift would allow me to go further. The catalog however DID mention having a permit first, I would make sure to ask the questions before heading to the location of choice.
