Have been thinking to go with Prime. Any other good suggestions?

Try Jim Palmer Trucking; I think they hire from San Diego.
It's a smaller company than Prime and they haul lots of freight for Prime.
Prime doesn't own Jim Palmer Trucking, but Jim Palmer does have a contract to haul some of their freight.

Thanks will check them out. Know any companies with a good college tuition assistance benefit anywhere in the U.S.?

    No, I don't.
Melton Truck Lines seems to have an excellent benefits package, other than that. Melton doesn't have their own cdl school though, but does hire new cdl grads.

Walmart to pay college tuition bills for employees
Don't know if this applies to Walmart drivers. They don't hire new cdl grads either.

Thanks. Just found out Schneider offers the following:

    • Up to $7,000 tuition reimbursement (paid at $200/month) for qualified drivers
    Not much but its something

Many companies have tuition reimbursement. That's for CDL school only.

Yes, if possible, pay for school yourself. Make sure it's 160 hrs.
Danny Herman Trucking hires San Diego new cdl grads. Study hard in school; they require you have a 85 GPA in truck driving school. They have two facilities near San Diego, one being in Calexico.
They don't run Northeast which is a big plus for most drivers.

Yes, I can pay cash for it. I will have to ask them if they do tuition reimbursement. I plan to get rid of my apt and live on the road so being close to "home" doesn't really matter for me. What matters is money and keeping busy. I like their freight lanes though. All in the open road and very winter friendly.
