    same comment I will make..

Pull out the phone book, put on the walking shoes and dust off the resume.

With only a week experience, that's gonna be tough.

You should go pound the local shops and see what's available. There are 3-20 truck outfits all over the place. Just a matter of finding them.

In the end, it will be how well you can market yourself to them.

suck it up go get that refresher course. Smith and Soloman was where I went over in Lakewood. I think a refresher was about $1000 talk to Tiname there she is very competent. Pssstt those other schools in area are real garbage i checked them all out thoroughly If you tell Tiname Capt Pete says get to church you will get her to lol

Do you really think with a week on a trainer's truck and away for 10 years you are more advanced than a student fresh out of school?

my point is those students are ready now, are you? can you pass the driving test? if so, ask companies if you can take the test...if you pass, go with trainer, if not refresher.

    monkeypuncher has a point...

    What about your pre-trip inspection?

Can ya pass it? I don't know, personally, what you can or cannot do.

I cannot see how being away from trucking/driving for 10 yrs you would remember the what's and why's, and how's.
Not to mention, I'm sure lot's of stuff has changed since then. I know it has. Things have changed in the past couple of months.

To answer your question, I know local bulk hauling MAY give ya a shot. IF you can impress them on a "trip test". Only reason I got in was I just graduated trucking school. Other than that you had to have 12+ months of experience.

monkey i understand your point.i was just asking if anyone knew of any companies that would put me out with a trainer and not require the refresher..swift will take me as is but i dont want to go with swift.i know i can pass the road test.there are things i would need to brush up on and get the rust out.i'm not opposed to taking the refresher if i need to i will take it.i just thought maybe someone on here might know of some companies that would not require it..i guess most of it is what their insurance company requires.

would you be willing to go to a small co.? there are some ads in the seek employment forum.
that is probably your best bet.
