What are my chances of getting a job after graduating? I currently have 2 points and hope that doesn't deter any employers but i am also willing to go and spend for defense driving school to reduce the points if possible.

I am not even sure if I even got points on me or not because i haven't received a letter or anything stating about points since the ticket; the ticket didn't even state any sort of points involvement (If you all must know, I turned right on red in NY. Perhaps you drivers with experience would know if I obtained points or not and if so how many). I've driven in NJ my whole life, and that one time I drive out of state, this got me. And the porker even had the nerve to say, well you can in upstate NY but not NYC. Well anyways, my fault, my rents told me 'hey, red means stop so stop, you took that chance out of state; if someone honks at you, who cares, red is stop don't go'. Learned my lesson after this incident, don't take chances... ...at all.

I am considering going to Smith and Solomon Trucking School where they also offer defense driving courses to reduce points and be able to obtain my CDL-A at the same time; if the two course are available at the same time.

Back to employment opportunities. Smith and Solomon has a recruiting program with business's and local business's that hire graduates. Though I am not exactly too sure on how reliable they are on handing out employment, I read online their most available recruiter is Werner and checked online that they higher recent graduates. If recruitment doesn;t work out how easy/hard would it be to find a job with no experience out in the job market?

Please report back asap, The deadline for me is Black Friday since they have a $1500 off tuition thing going on.

if you are going thru a school, you shouldn't have a problem getting into a company, most of them have companies waiting for their grads to snatch up once they have their CDL. I dont think you'll have a problem getting into the bigger carriers, as far as the experience goes anyway, thats what they live off of, us newbies lol. Just go out and do some apps yourself don't just go with the companies the school is working with. For the points, get your MVR, it should be listed on there. Im not even in school yet (scheduled for dec 12th) and I have been contacting companies and doing apps, since they knew i was going to school they sent pre hire letters to them already (i went to a job fair they had at the school so they knew where i was going and had the school info on hand). that doesnt mean Im guaranteed the job just yet, but I spoke with them about my MVR and an accident I had last january to make sure it was acceptable and they didnt have a problem with it since it wasn't listed as careless/wreckless.

Yeah but where they before or after obtaining your CDL? Did you have a friend to help you get you easier into the buisiness? Also which state do you work from? I know from state to state they may be lenient or strict. I know for a fact Cali is strict like crazy. But here in NJ we are lenient on almost everything especially since there is a huge lack of law inforcement. Crazy people drive 70-90+ on the highways while i am in the right lane running 55-65 limit depending on where i am driving (Garden State Parkway or Turnpike). I've always had respect for the road especially Truck drivers because I have seen some crazy #### and my cousin's have done some stupid stuff as well (numerous tickets, accidents; but hey they were young and I learned from their mistakes). I actually consider myself the best driver, but that turn on red was just something really unfortunate and due to carelessness, plus i was on teh job and our #### supervisor always had a wrong address/was always unorganized.

Yes it was out of state. The ticket stated nothing about points, just a fine ($350+ for a turn on red you had to absolutely ######## me). My cousin is NYPD but i refuse to talk to him due to what's happening with OWS (He's actually working on the OWS thing and i found a video of him doing shady #### and plan to ignore him this Thanksgiving until he retires) He "Would have helped me out" but supposedly they are tossing in investigations for attempting to give passes for family members. I plan on not signing contracts; If i do and plan on quitting, thats ##### on me, not on the company and i know for a fact i would have to end up paying out of y pocket for leaving a supposedly #### nosed company.

I don't lie about anything (except sexual desires and personal habits lol), even at my job interviews the past 3 months i've stated i was fired due to tardiness and just plain not giving a ####; learned my lesson about being on time and performance (though i seriously began to think the supervisors and coeds had a grudge against me). I consider myself to be the most ethical and patient person in the world; in line at the checkout with only 1 register open, hell i understand, person counting coins etc, I've been their trying to make ends due, wait at the stupid doctors office for about 30 minutes when i got their on time for my appointment, meh doctor's either talking or shooting the #### I don't mind.

I have a 'wet and wreckless' in Cali, which is either a reduced charge for a DUI or a charge one gets when they get pulled over with any amount of alcohol on their breath, and it doesn't even show up. I never told my former employer and it didn't show up on my future employers bg check....long story short--you have anything to worry about.

Pull your driving record and you'll know.

I know in Indiana, turning right on red where it was not allowed was the same amount of points as running a red light. That kind of gives you an idea of whether they think it's minor or not.

How do i pull up my driving record? Do i just go into the DMV or something? Will the truck driving school be able to do so?
