    Hey everyone..

I read a lot of posts when it comes to cheating on log books in order to drive more and I found a nice video on Youtube on how people are getting caught. I plan on driving a truck in the future and after watching this, I plan on never cheating on my books. Not only can accidents happen, but if you get caught cheating, it could end your career.

There was a accident a few years ago in Lake Butler Florida which was caused by fatigue. The fatigue was linked to the driver cheating his logbook.

    The accident:

There was a school bus stopped on the road letting off kids. There was a mini van behind the school bus filled with a family. The truck driver slammed into the mini van and pushed it into the back of the school bus. In total, 7 kids were killed and two adults in the mini van were killed.

Is cheating on the log book really worth it?

I have to admit, that years ago, I utilized "creative logging" techniques. Actually figured out over time that I didn't do myself any favors. Did not make any more than doing it legit. Was like a rodent on the tread wheel, running hard to go nowhere fast.

For probably the last 10 years, I resolved to just logging pretty legit. Since last December, been on EOBR, so logging legit a constant thing. I broke my previous monthly revenue records three times this year, so it is a hard sell to convince me that one has to "fudge" the books to make a living.

Maybe more dispatchers and safety directors need to read up about getting sent to prison for asking/allowing their drivers to run illegal. I don't know about you guys but prison sounds like it would suck.....a lot.

Prison is only one aspect to the issue. There is always some enterprising lawyer that would love to file a civil suit and make it so you spend the rest of your working life paying back someone you wronged by not doing what you should be doing.

Yeah I hate people, being in the office makes me itch. I can't imagine being locked in a cell with someone.

I was just laid off from a place because I was refusing to play ball on "doing what needs to be done". When I was younger and first started driving I had no problem fudging, but now, forget it. Not worth it. So here I am again looking for another job. Sucks but I'm not playing that game, particularly when it's understood that you get hung out to dry if something does happen. Again, just not worth it.

I used to feel the same way on cheating/fudging logs until I got on the road and actually started doing the job. I could see right away that, running a log totally legit wasn't going to work out that well and I wouldn't get anything done at all(fuel hauling).

    Typical day running totally legit:
6:00 am Wait in line for 3 1/2 hours to get first load.
11:25 am Arrive at first drop, wait for cars to move(1 1/4 hours) and make
    drop
3:30 pm Got loaded again after only a 2 hour wait in line.
7:30 pm Arrive at 2nd drop of the day late(due to rush hour) and make
drop..... Leaving 1/2 hour to get back to Termianal tp park.

Having a day go like this: The driver would likely gross about $90(paid by the load).. Folks that's $6.43 per hour. There is NO way I'm hauling fuel for $6.43 per hour.
