I checked my mvr last night and it shows an accident from Feb 2010 when I hit a tree in the snow commuting to work. Would this prevent me from getting into a position after cdl school? If so how long would I have to wait before this would not affect me?
Was you speeding, was the weather a factor? Was this preventable in any way?It depends on what exactly happened.I wouldn't think so.But before spending all that time and money on a school,I would call around and see what the starter companies have to say.Don't let the school recruiter talk you into anything until you know for sure.
It was in the snow. Weather was a factor. It doesnt say that on the mvr though. Just says accident and injury. Which was me. I banged my head up.
You'll be alright then but what do I know,im just a driver.Still call companies to be on the safe side.
No ticket and over 3 years ago should be no worry. Although I never went to a school so I don't know what they require.
I came in with a lot worse, guy. 43 in a 25 + seatbelt violation (I have no idea what I was thinking when I got this), at fault accident with no injuries and an improper backing charge (the last two were directly related) and I still got in. Points are starting to drop off, thank God! I loose the speeding/seatbelt ticket in less than a month, it's costing my boss an arm and a leg in insurance and I'll get a raise when he doesn't have to pay all this extra money into liability. I loose the accident this time next year. May rolls around and my brain falls into my ### for a month, for some reason. Also got a warning on my speed about this time last year in a CMV (8 CSA points) doing 56 in a 50 with a hot load and 2 hours on my clock left with 120 miles to go. EDIT- BTW, OP- where do you live? MVR points generally drop off in 2-4 years depending on the state, so if it was 2010 you're likely in the clear with a nice clean record.
Ran into another car switching lanes... doing about 55... was in the left merging right when they (center lane in front of me) decided to stop on the freeway.... I claimed fault and was not issued a ticket... Orange was the only one that would not accept it when calling around.
It will not prevent you from getting a job, but might make it a little harder. Everything on your record counts against you when the company compares you to other people who apply, you will have to beat out the other applicants with your other qualifications. I have a speeding 16 over ticket on my record, took me a couple months to find a good job, but i was also being picky.
