How do y'all company driver's get paid, or not when you're at the repair shop? TA, Loves or whatever for hours to maybe days.
And the follow up question to this is, if your not getting paid, or a fair wage then wouldn't you not want to get the truck fixed?

nearly ALL the companies i had worked for, paid a flat $10.00 per hour once we called in the breakdown, and got a "breakdown number", (for the payroll dept)..once we were on our way, we had to call dispatch, and the pay per hour ended.
i did have an alternator go bad while on the road, and i had to pull into a T/A, and did what i had to do, for that breakdown pay. plus, my company at the time, told me to take the bad alternator back to our shop...even though THAT cost my company the core charge...as they got that money back, form thier rebuilder's shop....
i personally feel that at the very least, the going hourly rate for the area in which the company is based out of.>???
but if not, then at the very least, $10.00 per hour.6wheeler Thanks this. -
I get a decent day rate so I am being paid regardless of what I do... drive, load, unload, pre-trip, post-trip, maintenance, breakdowns, etc..
6wheeler Thanks this. -
but when we run the road, in some capacity, we should be compensated "some", because we can make up that lost money later, hopefully with in that pay perdid. -
It depends, my drivers don't get paid for things like flat tires or something that a road side takes care of, but they will get a hotel room and some compensation based on the contract they have with me if there is a two to a dealer and something a shop can only take care of there. Some get a few hundred a day, others will go hourly but also I don't have them waiting for a truck for more than a couple days, if it can't be fixed right away, I try to get them back on the road with something else because they are where the money is made, not the truck itself.
wore out, Tombstone69, buddyd157 and 2 others Thank this. -
I get paid $100 per day beginning from moment breakdown is called in but it has to be at least 24 hours before you get it.
6wheeler Thanks this. -
Are you saying you log that time in the shop On Duty? Are you saying you’d rather drive a truck that is not properly maintained?
-
I get paid $10 per hour up to 11 hours per day for every day my truck is in the shop (and it currently is). Yes, I would rather be driving but if the truck has to go to the shop, I would prefer being paid for my down time as opposed to getting nothing for my time.
Tombstone69, buddyd157 and 6wheeler Thank this. -
Last job I had was $15/hr but paid only after 5 hours of being down.
Current company I get paid hourly, so if the truck breaks down during my shift I get paid normal pay while the company gets me another truck. If it breaks down say during the last turn, I'll stay with it until it gets back to the shop and then clock out. -
I don't get any breakdown pay .... however I do get to pay for the repairs
Schoob Thanks this.
