Biker, feel free to jump in and assist. More collective solutions is better then one personal opinion. No one answer may be correct. The end result is what matters......:biggrin_2558:

So I spilled soda on my HP laptop keyboard about 6 months of so ago
I do use an external keyboard because it spells crazy things when I use the original one
I have many problems and would like to reload windows
I have restored already with almost no help
What are the chances that I will lose the whole computer if I reload
I don't have the grand to buy one right now

No problem.. Should also add I used to do Consumer Data Support for AT&T.. Got a Crackberry that's acting up? I was one of the folks that helped you get it workin' again. :)

Ewwwww. Notebooks are tough to do repair work with.. If you have the patience, you can remove each key (CAREFULLY!) and then wipe the membrane down with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol. Don't use detergents as they can leave a residue.

As for reloading Winderz, you shouldn't have any issues as long as the external keyboard is working fine. Is it a USB connection?

Fortunately, no... It was amazing the number of times I'd get the "OMG YOU SPEAK ENGLISH" when answering calls. LOL

When's the last time you did a complete/total virus/trojan/spyware scan? What antivirus software are you using?
