Hi, I printed two driving records for myself 1st, I printed a "complete driving record." This shows a 15mph ticket from May 2009 2nd, I printed out a "3 year driving record- Commercial" and it reports "no violations, convictions, or accidents" I'm curious why they have different info and which one will be looked at when applying. Are companies required to use the Commercial abstract only or can they look at the complete abstract? For the 15mph conviction, it says the court finding was "conviction." It doesn't say anything about "reckless driving" or anything like that. In addtion, I'm going to have more ticket on my record for 11mph over that I got in July. Just paid it so it's not on my record yet. Is this going to mess up my chances of getting a job? Thank as always
It will cause problems with some insurance companies. The large, starter, companies may not want to risk you, either.
In looking online at the WA Dept of motor vehicles, I'm seeing this info regarding driving records: Employers, prospective employers, or their agents may request an employment record by mailing us all of the following: A Driving Record Request completed and signed by the driver, including the address where the driving record should be mailed. $10 for each record requested (check or money order made payable to the Department of Licensing). Insurance companies or their agents Insurance companies or their agents may request a 3-year noncommercial insurance abstract, a 3-year commercial insurance abstract, or a 3-year life insurance abstract by mailing us all of the following: $10 for each record requested (check or money order made payable to the Department of Licensing). A written request in one of the following formats: A Driving Record Request completed and signed by the driver, including the address where the driving record should be mailed. A letter on the insurance company's letterhead that includes the purpose for requesting the driving record (commercial, non-commercial, or life insurance) AND either the driver's Washington State driver license number OR the driver's full name (including middle name or initial) and date of birth. So, what this indicates to me, is that employers can only request any employment abstract and their insurance companies can only request a 3-year abstract. I think what happened withe my 15mph ticket is that I had to take a class and pay a fine but while it is on my permanment record, its not on my insurance record. I called my insurance company and they say they don't have a record of that ticket. I guess I would need to know then if commercial companies are allowed to pull my full record? Doesn't seem like they are allowed to from what I'm reading but perhaps I'm misunderstanding something?
