Here I go... My husband got into the trucking business, now owning 3 trucks. When he first got into the business, I agreed to go get my CDL's. After six months of me driving, we decided that it would be best that I stay home to raise my children. We were able to find a driver and things ran smoothly. Unfortunately my husband is no longer with me. For awhile, I was able to keep the truck moving. Now the company which I had my contract with has started a lease purchase program. All my drivers jumped on it. It has been hard to find qualified drivers. I have placed ads. I have posted flyers. I have exhausted all funds maintaining the trucks. I would really hate to walk away. Something within is telling me to utilize my CDL's and to not give up. I have not driven in 8 yrs. This is causing restless nights. I am so confused. Any advice is helpful. Thanks

Are the children out of the house? That is what is most important.

Did your husband pass away? If so, sorry.

Hopefully you will get sage advice from those that have more business experience.

If the kiddos are out the house you come take another crack at it. Alot has changed in 8 yrs. If your unable to try looking into a company that leases on truck but does not have a l/p. If you want to stick it out with the company your leased to try looking into if the pay is competitive with what others are doing in the same industry.

Trucking is one big roller coaster. You'll make really good money and make plans to expand,.. then things dip and you wonder why is this happening to me?

Survival will depend on how well you can weather the low periods, how badly you want to stay in trucking, how stubborn you are and and willing to struggle through the low periods and learn from all of your experiences.

I dont know of anyone personally that hasnt had to struggle past problems and learn how to adapt past them.

If you have other options, then I guess its just a decision of of weighing your pro's and con's. But if trucking is where you feathered your nest and laid your eggs,.. best of luck to you.
