Hey guys, just looking for some advice on what to go with for CPM. Most companies are offering low 30 to mid 30 cents per mile starting out. Is this normally what I'll start with or should I look for more? Obviously, I'll make more as I get more experience but just wondering if any companies out there will give me high 30 maybe even 40cpm starting out day one. Thanks.

Anything under $.40 in 2018 is insulting imo. Keep looking

You can make 40 cpm starting out. Don't quote me but I heard even Swift starts rookies out at 40 cpm. I would call Ozark. There was a guy on here that started out of school with them. I think he said he was at 43 cpm. Check for threads on Ozark.

Also I would advise, don't worry so much about cpm as much as if they can keep you busy. If you're running coast to coast and staying busy, you will see good money. Take this year, and focus on getting experience, honing your skills, and getting to know the industry. Real talk, your first 4-5 years are your learning years. The first year will come and go Get through the first year, no accidents or tickets, and you will have so many options to choose from.

Just be careful looking at CPM pay. Lots of companies have a sliding pay scale (based on trip length) and tend to pick off of the high side of the stated CPM.

That's a good point. I never thought to tell bee drivers that.

I just researched Ozark. They are based in Cali and only work the west coast. I'm in NY so that probably wouldn't work for me.

One job offer I received is a Dedicated route working within six states. Out for five, home for two. I'm very interested in doing that just to start out and get my experience. I would love OTR since I'm single with no kids so I just want to hit the road. I just don't want to be treated unfairly for the simple fact that I'm inexperienced.

A company may pay .50 for trips under 200 miles and may pay .35 for trips over 1,500 miles. With multiple other trip length points in between. And you’ll never know exactly what a reasonable average might be.
