10 years of driving... And I have never taken a load into Canada. Always refused them because I'm not sure if Canada would allow me... And if they did, even more worried that the good ol' USA would'nt let me come back.

Now in this current state of the economy I am thinking about crossing into Canada. I've been offered 3 loads this past week Canadian bound... Refused all 3 & they were paying good.

So.... Please tell me what would disqualify a experienced American driver from crossing that border? Is there a web-site that tells me? What do I need to have in my possession? What provinces should I avoid? I'm not governing my truck.

DUI and felonies disqualify you. DUI is a felony in Canada.

If you take those loads going in you will likely be bouncing back out empty so take that into consideration on the rate.

I know of people that have been arrested for assault and battery. Not convicted. Just arrested.

    DUI anywhere in the past.

Unless as stated in other posts, crossing into Canada isn't a big deal as long as you don't have felonies on your record. Getting back into the good ol' USA can, at times be challenging for the most law abiding citizen.

I know a guy who was denied entrance because of a dui when he was 23 years old.

    He is now 63.

The question is what report are they running? or is it self admission?

Some states DUI's have always been criminal charges, other states it is a Motor vehicle violation.

So the big Q is what is checked at the border?

I do not know what the report is. My first time crossing commercially, it took 45 minutes for the background check to allow me to enter.

Watch out if you get sent to Montreal. Some areas don't even speak English. :biggrin_255:
