Hi Guys I am brand new (an old guy actually) .I am looking to work a deal with a company who is looking for a Cube Van (can I say that on this site ?) They do 7-15 deliveries per day which takes around 5 or 6 hours per day doing a morning run and an afternoon run. What is a fair way to price this out? Any suggestions ? If I do a klm rate I do not know if there are enough clicks to price so what is a reasonable number ? I could do 25 per hour and 25 for the truck and keep the costs clean One of the local deliver companies for example pays O/Os, $300 per day Any input would be appreciated Ian
In that line of work, I’ve found in the past that after you calculate your fuel, maintenance, insurance, truck replacement (usually 3 years), and everything else that you should already know; charge the average class A co. driver rate per mile as your salary. Compare that salary to the amount that you think you need to NET each day for your livelihood, then go with the higher of the two figures. This way you don’t have to decide whether you should bid by the mile, the delivery stop, etc. it is a simplification. If it works out well for you, then you can calculate an average rate per stop, per mile, per hour, per day, etc. and use it for future bidding.
