Hi, I am going to put this question out here because some item's about the CSA i still don,t understand. The reason I work for a pallet company that runs "junk equipment". I know that I get points for equipment failures such as turn signals and lights. What about tires? Tractor and trailer tires. If they are not within 2/32,s can I be held responsible for that by DOT? Brakes? am I responsible for measureing brake shoes? Or just checking to make sure tractor and trailer brakes are working? This is also of concern to me. GVW. I have weighed a fully loaded 53" trailer thats about 620 pallets. With a single axle tractor that I drive and full fuel tanks it scales out at about 47,000- 48,000 gvw. Is that legal for a single axle. My registration says the tractor is regeistered for 52K? But, I am looking for another job as I have had it with all the bs. But, as far as the CSA stuff goes any info will help me so I know what I am responsible or not responsible for. With that info I will know when I can refuse to drive their equipment . Thanks! take care.

Anything that can be cited during a DOT inspection will count as points against you and your carrier. If you aren't familiar with items that the DOT inspects then you should spend some time looking at the FMCSRs. I'm not sure how you have 20 years experience and aren't familiar with axle weight limits, let alone federal DOT inspection guidelines.

The cold hard truth is you are responsible for everything wrong with weight, paperwork ,and the truck and trailer .
If you get pulled over and checked it all goes on you the driver so get them to do it right or walk and save your future in trucking it is that simple .

Thanks all for your replies. How have I been in this for 20 years? That's a question I ask myself. :biggrin_25523:
