Hi, I just wanted anyone's feedback on a 2012 d13 with 425hp with I SHIFT. I haul a dry van and don't normally do heavy? Will it do me good or should I upgrade?
Depends on you. If you want to be king off the hill............then ,no,not for you. If you can drive relaxed.........then it can be a money earner.
It will do you just fine as long as you're out to make money and not to show your stuff, because on the hills, a D13/425HP doesn't have much to show... If you were looking for power, then a D13 with 465 or 500 would be your best bet but you're not gonna have a problem
How exactly can I upgrade to 475? Dealer? And what do I need to change? Also, will it harm the engine in any way if I upgrade?
Why not run it as is and see how the truck runs? If you are happy with it's MPG and performance is good.............
Picking the truck up on Friday, we will see after my first load. I hope with the ishift, everything is good.
best thing to do is go to the dealer and have them do a check (takes about 2 days) to see just how much you can upgrade YOUR TRUCK.... can you up the horse power/Torque on YOUR TRUCK.... can YOUR I-shift take 1,850 ft. lbs. Torque....? can the rest of the drive train ..? can your radiator cool 500 hp.... you need to find this out and Volvo can tell you just what the max is for your truck AS IS... then you can decide what you want to do and how much you want to spend to do it...... example a D-16 in a Volvo 880 can have more than 625 hp but the same D-16 in a Volvo 780 CAN'T have more than 550 hp.... reason is you can't cool a 575 hp D-16 under the HOOD of a 780....same Volvo D-16 in a European truck can have up to 750 hp
