hi I have had 2 instances where recievers/shippers have damaged my trailer.

the first was they loaded me full of tires they laced them in the trailer by hand and basicly crammed them in so tight that now my trailer buldges outward on both sides wasnt like that before i did manage to take pictures while the tires were still in trailer showing how crammed they were.

the next thing happened just today was backing in a dock one of those where u have to back into a garage to get to the dock which is on the inside. well problem i couldnt see anythinng my mirrors were usless cause the sun was reflecting off my mirrors.
so i got out and looked I looked ok and the dock worker said u got it just come straight on back. so i did didnt think much of it got unloaded then when i was leaving i had a hard time closing doors didnt worry much about it went to my next pick up got loaded and when i went to shut my doors i noticed my top 2 hinges on my right door were both broke in half and when i open my doors all the weight is shifting back on the 3 hinges thats left they look like they wont last long under the extra stress. also found it difficult to get the top latch to latch but managed to get it this time kinda had no choice since i was already loaded.

Is there anything i can do to hold these companies liable for damage done to my trailer? do they have a special insurance to handle theese things? or will my insurance cover damage done while at a customers dock? what steps do i need to take?

    thanks in advance.

How did the second company damage your trailer? I don't think broken hinges on your trailer are their problem unless they did something to your trailer.

It would be VERY hard to prove any damage was done after you leave the shipper / receiver.Sorry.

Had a fork lift driver lift his forks too high, top of mast put hole in roof.Operator tried to laugh it off, I got his boss out there, they paid for damage.

Do you mean the kind of damage in this photo :)

I wouldn't file a claim against your insurance for either one of these. First, you would be subject to your deductible and then it would go as a claim on your loss runs potentially causing higher rates next year. In the first instance speak up when they are loading it! If you have a new Dry Van then I can see pushing the issue in the first instance with the shipper, if it is an '04 that is looking a little rough to begin with let it go. The second one I think you would have a hard time with getting anyone's insurance to listen and the receiver more than likely would say you should have brought it up to begin with.
