I lease my daycab with a decent little company that has a contract with a place near my home.

The pay is pretty good but not transparent and the dispatch is anything but smart.

A large tanker (bull chem) company about 50 miles away says they can use me.

They can't say what the pay will be like bc they've never leased a local owner operator driver on before.

They want me to bring my tractor to the interview so they can inspect it. I was weary of doing that but why not knock it out just in case the deal is good.

I plan on asking about detention pay, load/ unload times, average run length (local customer locations), e-logs, pay calculation, ...

What else? I've never run tankers before. Anything that I should look out for?

What kind of tanker? Chemical? Food grade? Will you have to get a pump and/or compressor installed on your truck?

It's bull chemical tanker. I was told I would NOT need a pump? That confuses me.

Pump might be mounted on the trailers driven by a pony motor. Or, it could be gravity fed. Or, there could be other possibilities. I haven't run tanks...pulled a few, but always as a drop & hook so I never had to unload.

I've never done chemicals but I'd have to ask about trailer rental fees in the lease
Back charges for liability, cargo, and EPA insurance and if you're doing local work for them find out about your financial responsibilities for fittings that might be missing from an otr trailer
