How do y’all suggest I get the most mileage out of my truck? I have some blow by and it worries me but it’s been their way for the last 100k miles. People I speak to at truck stops and what not say that it’s normal it don’t want to be on the side of the road. I’ve got about 965k on the dash and I want to get to the 1.2 to 1.4 million mile range I hear other people say it can get to. My motor has outlasted my transmission, clutch, eco, vpod, turbo, and egr so I know it’s got more life in it. Thanks!

I had a 2006 14L that I sold at 1.1 million miles I bought at around 450k miles. It had blow-by from day 1. It was always a little worse when it came oil change time. Blow-by is normal....

Ive got a 12.7 now that has 500k on it now, I bought it about 3 years ago with 365k. It has had blow by since day 1

Ive always had 12.7's and have always had blow by!!

No but I think I should start doing it. Every pm? What would I expect it to tell me?

Yeah every PM. it will show how your oil is holding up viscosity wise and any excess wear metals or fluids. Excess fuel would be fuel dilution meaning you may have leaking injectors. Sodium and potassium could be coolant from the EGR Cooler leaking, excess lead is bearings wearing, etc. It truly is great information for only $35 or so. I use Blackstone Labs, they send free sample bottles.

I would do an oil sample at your next oil change. Its not difficult to drop the pan and have your mechanic check one of the bearings. But for a piece of mind if it were me I would have the rods and mains done. What you don't Want to do is spin a bearing. All engines have some blow by. How much oil is your engine using between oil changes?
