Everything I know about trucking whether it's about carriers, schools, preparation for schools, preparation while in school, OTR training, etc., etc., etc., has come from the pages of this forum. I've had a few wannabes ask me for advice but it occurs to me that the best advice I can give is to refer a wannabe to the threads that helped me. I'll start with a thread of my own only as a starter. If you remember some threads that were helpful to you, share the link. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...285-tying-up-loose-ends-before-heading-2.html (NOTE TO WANNABES: Within these threads/posts you'll keep running across the same names over and over again. That's a good thing. There are many members here who make it their business to help wannabes and newbies. Latch on to those members and zero in on their posts.)
Another oldie but goodie: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...rivers/23658-starting-out-for-rookies-14.html And another: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...-drivers/16652-packing-list-for-students.html
This one is a very long read but I think is a great look at some of the experiences one can go through starting out. Daytona's Story
good call. i notice quite a few people who seem to be new to the forum thing, namely the search function, and ask a lot of the same stuff over and over. theres definitely a lot of good info on here.
