I apologize in advance for the long story, but here it is......

Ok I run a team route, and the other day I was in the berth while partner was driving to make a pickup. Partner drove over puddle, not realizing there was a huge crator underneath. The ensuing bang was so loud woke me up, and I thought we wrecked. We get back to our yard he doesn't report it. The following day we report back to work, and sup wants to know what happened. I say I don't know, it wasn't me. Partner says same thing. Then tells sup it was probably someone else in our company who did it Ok so we leave do our route. We just got back alittle while ago. Sup asks again now the boss wants to know. I say it wasn't me, and I would have told you if I did it. Partner says same thing, and trys to say it was someone else again. Sup tells my partner he checked the logs and we were the only drivers to have truck. Now I never tried to blame anyone else, always said wasn't me, and I wold've told you if I did. I didn't say anything more or less. So do you think sup knows partner is lying? Do I tell sup? Remember if I tell sup I'm labeled a rat in company, but if I don't tell well who knows what might happen. So what would you do?

    So what would you do?

    CYA........
Someone screwed up the rig......And you didn't do it....Don't get hung for something you didn't do....

Like George Carlin used to say: "Two guys are in an elevator...One of them farts....Everybody knows who did it".....

as a team, you are BOTH responsible for what happens to that entire rig combo, the freight, etc,etc......you can BOTH be fired.......or you can BOTH be charged with an accident or incident of destruction of company property, and YOU WILL BE DAC'd....!!!

my best advice, DO NOT take the fall for your co-driver's actions. inform your boss and get your arse cleared of any wrong doings.

for the life of me, whenever ANYONE SEE'S A PUDDLE IN THE ROAD......WHAT MAKES THEM THINK THE ROAD IS LEVEL....????

in any event, unless you rat out the other guy, you're toasted cheerio's yourself......

best of luck too, trying to find a new job after being DAC'd for destroying company equipment.

My Mama taught me to step up and take my medicine when I screw up. So here's my advice to you...The best case scenario goes like this: You talk to co-driver and say, "look Joe, we have to go together to talk to the boss. We're going to tell him what happened before we get our butts canned for not only having an accident, but for lying on top of it." Now if your co-driver has any decency, (which he seems shaky on as you tell it) he'll go in with you and fess up.
Next best thing to do if he refuses? Tell him you're doing it anyway up front and give him the choice to either tag along or not as he sees fit. Then do it. And remember now that you lied, you both have to eat crow which is not pleasant, but you can choke it down. That is the right thing to do imo.

Well technically it is level, just not very stable :biggrin_25523:

@Blaze8 You never did say what was banged up/destroyed that the Supervisor knew you hit a deep puddle? I agree with people here. IT'S YOUR CAREER.

Problem is, you have now denied it TWICE. You are guilty by association. Good Luck!!

just like the courts would see it.....one person kills, anyone around is an "accessory to the crime"........

yeah, "most" roads ARE level.....but a standing puddle SHOULD be a warning of a pot hole or whatever.......just MHO......

Don't know about other states, but a question dealing with this was on my states General Knowledge and Air Brake test. "Avoid standing or running water if at all possible, but if you cannot you should _________. "

I do agree.. There is a reason there is a puddle beside "water".. I have seen what 2" of running water can do to a 4 wheeler.. It ain't purty..

Now I want to hear the rest of the story???

I'm curious also. All your saying is "it wasent you". What wasent you? If there is damage caused from the pothole that he drove into/over and he wont step up to the plate, you better CYA.
